Windows
Installation
This section
describes how to install the SpinCore Driver Suite on Windows
machines. This package can be used with Windows
98/ME/NT/2000/XP. The
instructions and screenshots described below are for Windows XP,
however the procedure is virtually identical for other versions of
Windows.
Instructions
1. Do not connect your SpinCore product to the computer at this
time. First, download the latest version of
the SpinCore Driver Suite and then run it.
2. Several prompts will appear, showing you license information
and other information about the software. Once you have clicked
"Next" and the "I Agree", you will see the following window which lists
the contents of the Driver Suite and their version numbers. Click
"Next".
>
>>
3. You will now be prompted to choose an location for the
SpinCore Driver Suite files. This is the directory which will
hold the PulseBlaster Interpreter, the SpinAPI example files and the
SpinAPI programming interface files. These items will also be
accessible via the Start Menu once the installation has been
completed. To continue, click "Install".

4. The setup application will now begin copying files to your
computer. You will also see a window like the one shown
below. This is a normal part of the installation process and
should not be closed manually; the setup program is performing
important operations and will close this window when these operations
are completed.

5. Once the installation program has finished, you may connect your
SpinCore device to the computer. If you have a PCI board, turn
off your computer,
insert the board into one of the free PCI slots, and turn the computer
back on. If you have a USB device, you may simply plug it in without
restarting the computer.
6. You will now be prompted by the "Found New
Hardware" wizard that it has detected your board. You do not need to
search online for drivers, so choose "No, not this time."
>
7. In the next step, the Wizard should detect your board. The
Installation Wizard will also display the model name of your
board. Please note that PulseBlaster devices will appear as
something other than
"RadioProcessor (dv2)". Choose to
install the software automatically, and click "Next"
8. Windows will then install the drivers for the device. This may take
a few minutes. During this process, a window may appear pertaining to
Windows Logo testing. You may safely choose to "Continue Anyway"
9. A window will appear to indicate that the driver installation has
finished. If Windows asks you to reboot your computer, please do so.
10. After installation has finished, you can check to make sure the
device
has been installed properly by looking in the Device Manager (
instructions). Your
SpinCore product will either be listed under the Multifunction Adapters
category if it is a PCI board, or the Universal Serial Bus Controllers
category if it is a USB device. Your
Device Manager (in Windows XP) should
look approximately as follows:
How do I access the
Device Manager?
On Windows XP:
1. Click the Start Menu and choose Control Panel
2. Click the System Icon. (If you don't see a System icon, you may need
to click the "Performance and Maintenance" icon first)
3. In the window that appears, click the "Hardware" tab and then choose
"Device Manager"
On Windows 98:
1. Click the Start Menu, choose settings, and then choose Control Panel
2. Click the System Icon
3. In the window that appears, click the "Device Manager" tab
For other versions of Windows, the procedure should be similar if not
identical.
