Chicago Area Workshop on NMR
August 20-24, 2007, University of Illinois at Chicago
With the advent of high field magnets, cryogenic probes, isotopic labeling, and sophisticated experimental schemes, biomolecular NMR holds great promise as a structural biology technique to examine larger and more complicated biological systems. However, proper training in the theory and practice of biomolecular NMR spectroscopy is currently lacking at most institutions. To address this situation, we have initiated the Chicago Area Workshop on NMR (CAW-NMR). This year, the third offering of this workshop, will concentrate on more advanced topics of biomolecular NMR including:
- TROSY & Methyl-TROSY Spectroscopy Techniques
- Drug Discovery Studies by NMR
- Residual Dipolar Coupling
- Dynamic Studies of Large Molecular Weight Complexes
- Macromolecular Interactions
- Using Intermolecular NOEs to Calculate the Structure of Complexes
CAW-NMR 2007 will be held at the UIC Center for Structural Biology. The general format of the workshop will consist ~50% lecture time and ~50% lab time, taking advantage of the superb NMR facilities present at the Center for Structural Biology, where 600 MHz, 800 MHz and 900 MHz spectrometers are present. This workshop is intended for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers who are interested in using NMR spectroscopy for the study of biomolecules and already have some basic knowledge of NMR. Instructors will include Michael Caffrey, Vadim Gaponenko and Benjamin Ramirez of the University of Illinois at Chicago, with guest lectures by Erik Zuiderweg of the University of Michigan.
REGISTRATION & CONTACT INFORMATION
The cost of the workshop will be $750 per participant. This will cover course fees, a NMR text book, daily refreshments and lunch, and 2 workshop dinners. The number of workshop participants is limited. For full consideration, perspective participants are encouraged to contact Professor Caffrey (caffrey@uic.edu) as soon as possible. For out of town participants, campus housing is available at an additional cost.
