    In the first week of October 2000, from Monday the 2nd to Wednesday the 4th, we are organizing in Kraków a workshop,

2ND KRAKÓW – WINNIPEG WORKSHOP ON BIOMEDICAL APPLICATIONS OF MRI AND MRS.

    This meeting is organized by the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Kraków and the Institute for Biodiagnostic in Winnipeg in collaboration with the Polish Medical Society of Magnetic Resonance. It will be devoted to selected topics of MRI/MRS techniques and its applications to different fields of biomedical research and medical diagnostics, which are of special interest. The following subjects will be covered:

    The workshop will consist of a number of invited lectures, short oral communications, and a poster session. Two early morning teaching sessions in Polish on Tuesday and Wednesday, will be devoted to recent development in medical MRI and MRS. Proceedings of the Workshop will be published as a Supplement to Medical Science Monitor.

    The workshop will be attended by scientists and physicians working in the field of MR from Canada, US and Europe. A strong representation of Polish scientists and physicians will be present. The experts from following centers will participate in this meeting: Winnipeg, Gainesville, Milwaukee, London, Nottingham, Grenoble, Rouffach, Freiburg, Stockholm, Brno, Poznan, Warszawa, Wroclaw and Kraków.

    The workshop will be held at the H. Niewodnicza?ski Institute for Nuclear Physics in Kraków, Poland from 2 to 4 October 2000.

    Kraków is an old city, the former capital of Poland and the European City of Culture 2000, famous for his cultural traditions and historical monuments such as the Royal Wawel Castle, Main Market Square, St. Mary Church with its famous altar, the Jagiellonian University where Copernicus was a student, and Kazimierz – a historic Jewish quarter. Famous Wieliczka Salt Mine, almost 1000 years old, is 12 km away from the Market Square.

   There are daily flights to Kraków from Frankfurt, London, Paris, Rome, Vienna and  Zurich. A train journey from Kraków to Warszawa takes 2h35m.

    Accommodation will be arranged in Hotel Piast {s-550zl, d–600zl}, Park-Hotel Granica {s-120zl, d-240zl} and Hotel Leopolis {s-125zl, d-240 zl} in Kraków.

    Conference fee is 200PLN (includes conference dinner on the 3rd October) and can be paid in advance by check or on arrival.

    Please return, fax or e-mail the registration form and abstract of the presentation before the 1st of September. Camera ready abstracts should not exceed one A4 page.
