A NMR
Center Manager Position (Research Scientist level) is available in the
Sealy Center for Structural Biology and Molecular Biophysics (SCSB),
University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
The NMR Center is located in a two-story building
called Dockside Building. It contains three Varian NMR
instruments, two Varian NMR System (800 and 750 MHz) and one 600 MHz
Inova. An additional 400 MHz NMR is located in a second
building. A wide selection of double- and triple-resonance probes
is available. The 800 MHz instrument is equipped with a 5mm HCN
CryoProbe. Software for NMR data analysis includes VnmrJ, Felix, MORASS
and DIAMOD.
This position provides management of the Center,
maintenance of the facilities, training of users, and collaboration
with the SCSB Faculty to advance SCSB’s research mission. The position
requires a Ph.D. and a minimum of two years experience in maintaining
and troubleshooting Varian NMR instruments and sample handling.
The applicant should also be familiar with multi-dimensional NMR
experiments, UNIX operating system, and C computer language.
