Full Time NMR Facility Manager

The Chemistry Department of Missouri University of Science and Technology invites applications for a full time NMR Facility Manager. The chemistry department houses the following NMR spectrometers: a liquid-state Bruker AVANCE III HD 400 MHz, a solid-state Bruker AVANCE III 400 MHz wide bore, a home-built 20 MHz relaxometer, and a benchtop Magritek 42.5 MHz carbon spinsolve.

Responsibilities: (1) Expected to be on-site to manage the daily operation and maintenance of the Chemistry Department NMR Facility and NMR equipment; (2) Function as primary operator of the solid state NMR spectrometer of the Chemistry Department; (3) Train and advise faculty, postdocs and students in the design and execution of conventional and advanced NMR experiments, and assist in NMR data interpretation and publication of manuscripts; (4) Plan, organize and direct the NMR components of research projects utilizing the Chemistry Department NMR facility; (5) Assist in the preparation of grant proposals for the utilization, maintenance, upgrade and growth of the Chemistry Department NMR facility; (6) Promote and encourage interdepartmental, multi-campus and out of campus research and service programs in NMR.

Required Qualifications: M.Sc. or preferably Ph.D. degree in chemistry or related field with experience in both liquid and solid-state NMR. Experience in managing an NMR facility in academia or industry will be considered a plus. Candidates should have good verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a team and towards common goals.
