Felix for Windows

Download

Download Felix Version 1.02 for NMR data processing.

NOTE: Felix is a 16-bit application from a third party package. Felix works on 32-Bit systems. For 64-Bit systems, please follow the Guide to Running FELIX on Windows 7 64-Bit.
You may need the New VMLite.

Introduction

Felix can be used to view and process NMR data saved in the Felix file format. Along with ASCII and JCAMP-DX, Felix is one of the formats that is available for use with the RadioProcessor board. Felix is one of the intuitive programs for processing NMR data. These instructions will give you a brief understanding of how to use Felix.

Opening a Sample *.fid File

Felix accepts files with the extension *.fid. After installing Felix, you will find three sample *.fid files in your Felix directory. Double click any *.fid file to open Felix and the data. Now a prompt will appear giving you some options. For now, just select "OK" with the default values to see your processed spectra.

Exploring Data

The user interface for Felix is easy once you learn a few main concepts.
  • Every time you click on the data, a context menu will appear giving you choices. If want to close the menu, click on the the bar at the top of the program window.
  • To zoom in on the data, make a box around the region you want to expand to by clicking and dragging the mouse from one of the corners to the opposite corner. When you let go of the mouse button, the context menu will appear. Select "Expand". One of the other options, "Expand to Alias," will open the zoomed area in a new window.
  • If you want to go back to view the entire spectra, press the "Full" button in the lower left hand corner.
  • To change the vertical scale, scroll the bar on the right side of the data up or down.
  • To drag the spectra left and right, scroll the bar below the data left or right.
  • To switch between real, imaginary, and spectrum displays is under the "Display" menu on the top of the screen.

Phasing

Felix has a simple interface for phasing data as long as you make sure you press "OK" when you are done. The sliders at the bottom of the screen are your phasing controls. To zoom in on the spectra, make a box around the portion of the signal you want to zoom in on. To zoom out, click on the box that displays your entire signal at the lower right corner of the screen. To continue analyzing your spectra, select "OK" at the bottom of the screen.

Conclusion

Felix has its shortcomings, but it should be good enough for your first, quick evaluation of your board. We welcome your comments and suggestions.
